VARUN-III provide most cost effective alternative to generate electricity from running water without civil structure like dams/reservoirs. No environment impact, no harm to aquatic life, no disturbance or changes in natural course of river/canal. Our turbine fulfills off-grid, on-grid electric need to all lower income group members (farmers, villagers, tribes) living nearby flowing water body. All small-medium enterprises and organization's energy need can also be fulfilled through installing VARUN-III captive power plant as our single unit can generate 100 kW and by installing multiple units in running river/canal approximately 2 megawatt/km canal/river stretch can be generated.
To test capability to harness hydropower from surface flow of natural stream, a pilot test was conducted at Tail race channel of Kalagarh Dam, Ram Ganga River, Uttarakhand in May 2015. The test was successful and boos the mural of entire team to keep exploring the field of Hydrokinetics.
Develop a solution which can provide 24*7 low cost, sustainable, renewable energy was our dream and since last many years we were working to innovate something dedicated to marginal communities of India in general and whole world in particular. Till 2015, we have spent our hard eared money to develop our grass root idea but after getting 3 national awards and media attention, many angel investors, venture capitalists get attracted towards our innovation but due to their terms and conditions we have decided not to get involved with them. To install Turbines in Rivers, it is required to Justify that installation of our floating turbine does not damage forest environment and river ecology and to prove that we have conducted several pilot project in Core areas of National Parks Namely River Ganges, Rajaji National Park Core area, Chilla, Haridwar and River Rāmgangā, Jim Corbett National Park, Kalagarh, Uttara hand.
Through our Pilot tests, we Justified to forest authorities that -
A. Installation of our Turbine doesn't require any civil structure, Removal/Digging of river bed,
B. Our Turbine doesn't create noise to disturb wild animal conversation and signaling,
C. It also allow fish to pass from turbine blades and due to its slow RPM, our turbines does not create much turbulence in water and ultimately doesn't disturb aquatic life.
D. Installation of Floating Turbines doesn't require land near the riverbed for construction of power plant as entire system including power generator and power stabilizer remain situated in a floater which floats on the water surface.
For Trial purpose and to study its techno-economic feasibility, VARUN-III was installed and tested in many sites throughout Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand , Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, chhattisgarh and Bihar. After all our hardship get recognition and we become India's First Startup company who was guaranteed by Alternate Hydro Energy Centre, IIT Roorkee and an MoU was signed between us and IIT Roorkee which was sponsored and funded by UJVN Limited, Government of Uttarakhand on 20th December 2016. Research Grant were sanctioned exclusively to execute the MoU entitled "Development and Installation of 100 kW through Surface Water Velocity Driven Hydroknetic Turbine VARUN-III". In the MoU, we are Technology Provider cum Industry Partner, AHEC IIT Roorkee is R&D Partner and Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited, Gov't of Uttarakhand is Sponsor cum Facilitator.

Installation and Commercial Testing of VARUN-III module at Upstream of Solani Aquaduct, Upper Ganga Canal, Roorkee, Uttarakhand in December 2018.
VARUN-III is most simplest, floating type, surface water velocity driven hydrokinetic turbine system which harness hydrokinetic energy from running water with desired efficiency. Floating type installation automatically adjust turbine submergence level according to main stream water level. Specially designed turbine water inlet remove all turbulence in water and allow laminar flow to hit turbine blades. Low RPM and triangular shape allows aquatic life to escape un-harm through turbine. VARUN-III Solar- Hydrokinetic Hybrid system can provide maximum power output from installation site.
VARUN-III have potential to deploy as hybrid mix of various renewable energy technologies, such as Solar PV, Wind Energy, Solar Thermal Energy, etc. each adding its own value and strength, in order to deliver the most effective overall solution by maximum utilization natural resources available at installation site. Our Technology offers excellent Hydrokinetic-Hybrid variants for specific potential sites.
VARUN-III provide most cost effective alternative to generate electricity from running water without civil structure like dams/reservoirs. No environment impact, no harm to aquatic life, no disturbance or changes in natural course of river/canal. Our turbine fulfill off-grid, on-grid electric need to all lower income group members (farmers, villagers, tribes) living nearby flowing water bodies.
Building large hydro dams witnessing displacement of thousands of people, destroying livelihoods, violating human rights, leaving them with no alternatives, permanently destroyed the local environment and contributed in global warming by engulfing major chunk of forest. Per megawatt VARUN-III installation save 119 Trillion CO2 Emission in 25 years life, saving 134.5million kg Coal and generate-electricity @ lowest-LCOE
All major rivers, Canals, estuaries, hilly streams and other running water bodies having minimum ~ 0.8 m/s velocity, ~ 1.5 m. depth & ~3 m. Width.
